A beloved family farm has reopened, thanks to a dedicated pair of animal lovers.
Lee and Charlotte Porter have opened Porter’s Farm on the site of the old Fancys Farm on Portland, which had been there for 18 years.
They are currently open Friday-Monday 9.30am-4.30pm and hope to open six days a week soon.
Charlotte said: “This is a soft opening whilst we carry on developing and expanding the site, which we will do over the summer months.
“We have a small farm shop, which we are stocking with as much of our produce as possible along with local produce, and our cafe is stocked with bakes from local businesses also.
“We have done our research on other local attraction farms and our prices are cheaper as we want to keep costs to a minimum and make it affordable, but we do have to charge to enable us to cover costs and be open.”
Visitors can meet Highland cows, wallabies, donkeys, sheep and lambs, chickens, Kunekune pigs, pygmy goats and a mixture of other goats at the moment, and more animals are due to be added over the summer including bunnies, guinea pigs and other birds.

The cost of living sadly had a devastating effect on Fancy’s Family Farm, and winters were always hand to mouth.
The site is mostly SSSI land with many rare plants and animals including peregrine falcons, ravens, lizards, slow worms and adders.
From May to July, the farm is carpeted with beautiful pyramidal orchids and early gentian flowers.
