A competition in the West Dorset Magazine for a meal for two at The Elm Tree Inn in Langton Herring piqued our readers’ interest as hundreds of people entered!
But there can only be one winner, and the lucky Ron Glynn from Weymouth will be taking his wife Jen to this community run pub for a very special evening of good food and good company.
Ron was very surprised at his win, said: “I don’t usually enter competitions, but I enjoy the West Dorset Magazine and I find it very interesting and this competition caught my interest. It is usually Jen who enters competitions.
“I have heard very good things about The Elm Tree Inn, a friend visited recently and said they enjoyed a very good meal.”
The pub reopened in July after a massive campaign, which attracted 374 shareholders, while villagers raised a stunning half a million pounds to keep the doors open.
Katharine Parsons, who has previously been involved in a number of food and drink enterprises, has taken the helm as landlady of The Elm Tree Inn.
She said: “We are really pleased that the winner is excited about his upcoming visit to the Elm Tree, especially as he’s heard all good things about us.”
