A feast of farming is on offer over the next few weeks, with no fewer than four huge agricultural shows in Dorset.
The farming fun kicks off at the Turnpike Showground (SP7 9PL) on Wednesday, August 17 with The Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show.
The long-established show features a huge array of countryside pursuits, plus food, breathtaking entertainment and rides and games.

Melplash Show is next up, on Thursday, August 25 at West Bay.
Here you have the chance not not only have an amazing day out, but the WDM will be there with our cartoonist Lyndon Wall and copious quantities of Edition 15. Our baking columnist Lizzie Baking Bird will be there too.

The Great Dorset Steam fair needs no introduction, with the largest collection of steam engines in the world being hauled to the Tarrant Valley near Blandford for a six-day celebration from August 25-29 (see left).
Then Dorset County Show makes its triumphant return to Cokers Frome on Saturday and Sunday, September 3 and 4.
The showground will be packed with attractions, prize-winning animals, trade stands and more, and there’ll be more food and drink to sample and buy than you can shake a whittled stick at. Head to dorsetcountyshow.co.uk to buy tickets.
