First Beaminster Scout Group is crying out for a new leader to take charge of its Beaver colony.
Scout leader Joy Edwards said the First Beaminster Scout Group has continued to thrive despite the covid pandemic.
But she added that the forthcoming departure of their current Beavers leader leaves a gap that needs to be dammed.
Joy said: “Our Beavers colony has 18 young people aged five to seven and through the wonderful work done by our Beavers “Leader Kirsty has gone from strength to strength.
“Kirsty is now stepping down and we urgently seek a new Beavers Leader who will plan and deliver Beavers section meetings on a Monday evening from 5pm to 6pm during term time, as well as some ad hoc weekend activities throughout the year. If you are, or indeed if you know of someone who would be perfect for this role, please contact either our chairman Patrick Evans or myself to discuss the role in more detail.
“We really hope we will be able to find someone with the passion to help continue the great work Kirsty has done and see our Beavers colony continue to thrive.”
Joy added that the group’s new Scoutland premises in Shortmoor, which are rented from the Scout District, is a ‘great new place’ for the scouting sections to meet.
Joy said: “This year we have launched Squirrels which is a new section for pre-schoolers and is proving very successful. The Squirrels have recently been working on their All About Me badge challenge and the Let It Grow activity badge.
“Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts sections have been taking part in a wide variety of activities this term including fitness challenges, hiking, paracord crafting, campfire cooking, knot tying and knife and axe skills.”
