“The beauty of our company is that we have a strong team of experts so we can do everything, from the foundations to the chimney, all in-house.”
Gary Moore and Michael McManus launched Dorset Extensions Group in 2021, based at Basepoint in Weymouth, with a desire to instil trust before, during and after building projects, which they say is vital for a successful and seamless project.

The pair, who were friends long before becoming business partners, have secured a stunning portfolio of builds, from smaller fencing briefs to grand designs.
Project manager Michael said: “We have experts and craftsmen from every trade in our team, from plumbers, electricians and carpenters to groundsmen, roofers and landscapers, this means I can plan effectively knowing everything will be done to a high standard but also in the right order, and if we hit a problem, it is very easily sorted. Our communication is excellent.
“But most importantly every single member of our team know how vital it is for our clients to be happy. We are a family-run business, and work on old fashioned principles using traditional and modern methods, this is partly why about 50% of our projects are referrals from satisfied customers.”
Gary, who was born and bred in Weymouth, said: “Let’s be honest, for people embarking on an extension or undertaking any building project, it is stressful, because people are emotionally invested. We do everything we can to take those fears and worries away because we are on-hand all the time and walk our clients through every aspect of the project. If our clients are not happy, we are not happy and will work together to put ideas into reality and find solutions.”

Michael said: “What we love most about Dorset Extensions Group is seeing the project evolve, from the beginning all the way through to completion, it is a great thrill and one we afford because we are an in-house team. I manage all the projects, no matter how small, and this also secure long and strong relationships with clients, we become friends and then they recommend us to their friends and family, so it is as if we become part of their lives. It is such a privilege.”
Michael added: “It is crucial to instil trust with our clients and so we rarely take a deposit, this keeps our customer in control. We are unusual to work in this way, but we feel it is the right thing to do.”
